How to access your hosting via SSH

SSH access is deactivated by default in all hosting accounts, so the first time you want to use SSH to access your account you must follow these steps:

1 - Access your Hosting Panel

Follow instruccions of How to access your Hosting Panel to access your Hosting Panel.

2 - Enable SSH access

Click on Enable SSH icon and follow directions to enable it.


3 - You need a SSH client program

If your are using a Windows computer you have to install a SSH client in your computer. Putty SSH is free and works well enough for most users.

In the other hand, all Unix variants ( Linux, Mac OS X, ... ) have the OpenSSH client preinstaled, so in order need to open the terminal and type something like:

ssh user@domain -p 333

4 - SSH access details

In order to access your hosting account via SSH you must know the connections details:

  • The host is your domain hosting account's domain name.
  • The username is your hosting account's username, which you can locate in the left column of your Hosting Panel.
  • The password is the hosting account's main password, follow How to change hosting account main password to define a new password.
  • The port is 333.
