How to import a MySQL database using phpMyAdmin

If the database you wish to import it's not very big the easiest way to import a database is to use phpMyAdmin Import tool. We'll show you how easy it is.

Note: If the database is too big using phpMyAdmin could cause some issues, in that case try to import using the command line.

1 - Access your Hosting Panel

Just follow instruccions of How to access your Hosting Panel.

2 - Create the database

A database import must be done to an existing MySQL database, so prior to importing anything you must create a database.

In order to create a MySQL database follow the instruccions on How to create a MySQL database.

3 - Click on phpMyAdmin

Look for and click on phpMyAdmin icon.

4 - Select your database

Once you are inside phpMyAdmin look for the database on the left column and click on it's name.

5 - Access Import menu

Just click on Import tab.

6 - Submit the form

Click on Choose file button and select the MySQL database dump file form your computer. Then scroll down and click on Go button to upload and import the database.
